The first in a series of blog posts where we highlight the team here at Tenacity, first up is our designer Jack Royle.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Jack and I started at Tenacity in October 2020. I studied product design at Sheffield Hallam and after that continued my learning in the real world and have been doing Graphic Design/ Illustration for 4 years full time. I love my job and I post an illustration a day to my online audience of over 230k people.
What’s your day-to-day like at Tenacity?
My day-to-day is mostly making sure the way Tenacity presents itself visually to the world is the best it can be. Mostly creating graphics where we can easily get our message to new and existing customers in a clean and effective way. This can be either in video format or as a flat visual, it depends on the purpose of the job. Alongside that I also look after the designs for our sister company Dental IT.
How has COVID-19 affected your work?
As a designer it has made my work more essential. People need to communicate their message online even more now than ever. It is critical that anything design touches gets the message across in a simple and clear way.
Who is your favourite customer and why?
My favourite customer is the GRI Group, the industry is interesting and it's good to know the work we do for them is having a global impact due to their large customer base.
What has been the hardest thing to learn in your role?
I would have to say getting the website built, in the past I've only delt with the design and UX of websites and then handed it over to a developer. But after a few test runs with the Editor X software, the site was built to a really good standard.
What do you like about working in Sheffield and Hathersage?
I just love how integrated Sheffield and Hathersage are with the outdoors. How many places in the UK do you know where you can have lunch while looking at some of the best views of the UK?
What has been the highlight during your time at Tenacity?
Biggest highlight has to be when our new website went live. The whole project was started from the ground up including the brand and website content, by doing this we really got to the core of the Tenacity offering and ethos. Pleased to say I am happy with how it all turned out.
What’s the best thing about working at Tenacity?
I would have to say the people, since day one everyone has been really friendly and the work environment is unlike any other place I have worked. Work doesn’t feel like work here, everyone is fully motivated to do great things each day.
What's the most exciting technology you work with?
It has to be the Adobe Creative Suite, the vast amount of programmes you get access to really helps you be an all-round great designer if you put the work in. Having worked with them directly, the work they are doing moving their apps to iPad is game changing.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to cook, give me a fresh homemade meal over a takeaway any day of the week. Go to meal currently has to be Jerk chicken breast caramelised mango and pineapple. I also climb 3-4 days a week and I used to DJ when I was at University.
